HCIM-Specific Tips

Top Priorities for HCIM

  • 1.
43 Prayer ASAP - Protection prayers are your lifeline. Prioritize blue dragon bones at Taverley dungeon (safe with Iban Blast).
  • 2.
Ring of Life - Always wear one when doing any risky content. Ironmen have no Grand Exchange - craft a diamond ring (43 Crafting) and enchant it with Lvl-4 Enchant (57 Magic). Note it will not trigger above level 30 Wilderness.
  • 3.
Emergency Teleports - Keep teleport tabs in your inventory at all times. Royal seed pod (from Monkey Madness II) works up to level 30 wilderness, but teleports are delayed inside the Revenant Caves and wilderness boss lairs until you complete the hard Wilderness diary.
  • 4.
Use XP Lamps on Prayer - After 77 Herblore, put all lamps and books into Prayer to minimize dangerous bone grinding.

Dangers to Avoid

High Risk Activities

  • - Wilderness content (PKers, multi-combat)
  • - Wintertodt and Hallowed Sepulchre (unsafe deaths - see below)
  • - Temple Trekking (combat events hit hard)
  • - Demonic Gorillas (high damage)
  • - Solo bossing without an escape teleport

Common Death Causes

  • - Disconnections during combat
  • - Forgetting to restore prayer
  • - Misclicking into multi-combat
  • - Aggressive NPCs while AFKing
  • - Poison/venom without antipoison

Safe Training Methods

Truly Safe Deaths (Status Kept)

  • - Nightmare Zone and Pest Control (every death is safe)
  • - TzHaar Fight Cave and the Inferno (both explicitly safe)
  • - Chambers of Xeric
  • - Castle Wars, Soul Wars, LMS, Barbarian Assault
  • - Random events and your player-owned house

Combat

  • - Sand Crabs / Ammonite Crabs (AFK, minimal damage)
  • - Slayer with protection prayers active
  • - Learn Fight Caves early - dying there only costs supplies

Prayer

  • - Blue dragons in Taverley Dungeon (safespot with magic)
  • - Green dragons in the Myths' Guild basement (no Wilderness needed)
  • - Ensouled heads with Arceuus spellbook
  • - Forthos Dungeon red dragons (safespottable)

Looks Safe - It Is Not

  • - Wintertodt: since the Oct 2024 rework, warmth damage scales with your Firemaking level (the old 10 HP trick is dead) - hitting 0% warmth is instant death and removes Hardcore status
  • - Hallowed Sepulchre: an unsafe death that ends your Hardcore run - items go to a 25k-fee deathbank that is wiped if you die again before claiming
  • - Tempoross: the boss deals no damage, but dying there to poison or venom still counts as an unsafe death
  • - Sailing: capsizing is safe, but dying aboard a ship is a normal unsafe death
